The Learning and Development Manager is a pivotal role in building our training department from the
ground up. This role is responsible for managing and supporting the assessment of organizational needs
and spearheading the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that foster the professional
development and continuous learning of team members.
This position will be instrumental in supporting the establishment of a new Learning Management
System (LMS) to streamline training processes and enhance accessibility to learning resources
organization-wide. This role presents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of learning and
development within our company and make a meaningful impact on the growth and success of our
team members.
Responsibilities include leading the design, implementation, and management of comprehensive
training programs aimed at enhancing the skills, knowledge, and performance of employees across the
organization. This includes collaborating with various departments to identify training needs, developing
effective training materials, and overseeing the delivery of training programs.
This is an onsite position based in Santa Barbara.
Conduct thorough assessments to identify training needs and gaps within the organization.
● Develop comprehensive training programs that address identified needs, using various
instructional methods and delivery formats.
● Design and develop training materials, including presentations, manuals, videos, and e-learning
modules, ensuring content is engaging, relevant, and aligned with learning objectives.
● Assist in the establishment of our new LMS, ensuring user-friendly functionality for employees.
● Manage the day-to-day operations of the LMS, including content management, user support,
and reporting.
● Monitor and track employee progress and training completion through the LMS.
● Support organizational change initiatives by developing and delivering training programs to
facilitate smooth transitions and ensure employee readiness.
● Ensure that training programs comply with relevant regulations and industry standards,
particularly in areas such as safety, security, and diversity.
● Prepares budgetary recommendations that meet departmental goals and provide for effective
management of resources.
● Collaborate with department heads and key stakeholders to conduct thorough training needs
assessments.
● Identify skill gaps and training requirements across different levels and functions within the
organization.
● Establish and implement evaluation processes to measure the effectiveness of training
programs.
● Analyze feedback and performance data to make continuous improvements to training
initiatives.
● Stay current with industry trends and best practices in training and development, continuously
enhancing personal knowledge and skills in the field.
● Collaborate with external training providers and resources when necessary.
● Performs other related duties as assigned.
