We are looking for an Associate General Counsel in Mexico to join our legal team and assist our General Counsel in providing legal advice and guidance to our organization. The ideal candidate will be bilingual (English speaking) and have significant employment, commercial, and tax law experience in Mexico as well as basic U.S. legal knowledge. They will be responsible for identifying and analyzing legal issues, drafting, and reviewing various contracts, and documents across the organization, presenting clear recommendations to executive leadership and ensuring legal compliance in all aspects of business operations in Mexico and assist with other LATAM locations

Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborate across the organization to resolve various international employment law related issues, escalating to outside counsel where necessary and appropriate with a judicious eye towards cost savings.
  • Independently identify and analyze legal issues and risks threatening the organization and bring a
  • cogent plan to General Counsel for resolution.
  • Work with department heads to review, create, and maintain Standard Operating
  • Procedures that minimize legal exposure while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Protect the organization’s intellectual property.
  • Create new entities, as needed, and maintain compliance of all existing entities within the
  • enterprise to ensure liability protection from inside and outside creditors.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize various contracts and agreements with internal and
  • external parties, such as customers, vendors, partners, regulators, etc.
  • Research and monitor relevant laws, regulations, policies, and industry standards that may
  • impact the organization and update executive leadership on any changes or developments
  • impacting the organization.
  • Work with General Counsel to manage and oversee all outside counsel relationships
  • and litigation.
  • Provide legal training and education to staff and management on various legal topics including
  • employment law, intellectual property law, commercial law, and international tax law.
  • Support General Counsel in managing the legal department budget, staff, and operations.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bilingual: English/Spanish
  • Bachelor of Law degree from top rated school
  • U.S. LLM degree desired
  • Minimum of 10 years of legal experience (law firm or in-house legal department experience)
