This role offers a unique opportunity to be a part of the largest legal line within the law firm and maintains a focus on assisting victims of abuse. Your primary duties involve client interviews to gather information, reviewing materials, applying necessary edits and combining all final preparation of immigration forms and documentation.
Job Requirements
● Perform thorough assessments of legal documents, including but not limited to
indexes, supporting evidence, legal arguments, forms, declarations, and other
pertinent materials.
● Utilize strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of relevant legal
concepts to ensure the accuracy and compliance of reviewed documents with
established protocols and guidelines.
● Examine court dockets, records and FOIA requests, if accessible, to identify any
legal proceedings or actions that may affect the verification process or the
individual's legal status.
● Efficiently organize and manage reviewed documents, making necessary edits to
enhance clarity, consistency, and overall quality.
● Review, manage, and maintain client case information in case management
software as well as within Google and Microsoft environments.
● Exhibit exemplary client care during interviews with clients regarding history of
abuse, cruelty, and other qualifying case information.
● Prepare and finalize declarations or affidavits based on the information gathered,
adhering to legal standards and requirements.
● Draft professional and concise cover letters to accompany the verification
documentation, explaining the purpose and context of the submission.
● Perform quality checks and reviews on completed verifications and associated
documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
● Maintain confidentiality and privilege of clients’ records and maintain a warm,
professional attitude at all times when speaking with clients.
● Collaborate with attorneys and other teams within and outside of the VAWA legal
line to provide the highest quality representation for our clients and their cases.
● Identify any missing or incomplete information and contact clients where
necessary for followup.
● Willingness to continually learn and improve.
Qualifications:
● Bilingual – Speak, read and write in Spanish and English at a C1 level.
● Strong typing skills of at least 60 WPM in English and Spanish.
● Bachelor’s degree in law or a related field.
● Prior experience working with VAWA or U.S. immigration law generally preferred.
Social work and history of strong writing are also a plus.
● Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey insights and
recommendations effectively.
● Detail-oriented and able to work with a high degree of accuracy.
● Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and communicate insights
to stakeholders.
● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
