The Asylum legal line manager manages and leads a team of asylum paralegals, coinciding with attorneys, as well as ensuring the effective processing of asylum cases, and maintaining compliance with immigration laws and regulations. These metrics can also be used to evaluate their impact on the overall success of the asylum program. They will have at least two supervisors reporting directly to them at any given time. Their responsibilities are essential for ensuring that asylum cases are handled effectively and in compliance with the law.

 

Onsite role at Tukwila, WA

Responsibilities

Team leadership, case management, quality control, client interaction, legal expertise (specializing in Asylum law), training and development, coordinating with the firm’s legal strategist, compliance and ethics, client advocacy (including interactions with immigration authorities and courts), emergency response, collaboration,  supervision and mentorship of direct reports, communication and reporting, conflict resolution.

 

Internal:

  • Daily interactions with Asylum team members, direct-report supervisors, and direct managers
  • Occasional interactions with outside teams in terms of training and development, or help in case analysis - this includes other supervisors/ managers

 

External:

  • Occasional interaction with immigration government officials (including, but not limited to USCIS, ICE, and Asylum Officers)
  • Occasional interaction with outside/prior attorneys
  • Constant communication with clients.

Qualifications

Required functional competencies/experience/qualifications

  • Bilingual: English/Spanish.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4+ years of professional experience minimum.
  • Prior leadership experience (team lead, supervisor, or higher), required. The higher the years of experience will make for a better application!
  • Affirmative Asylum experience, (preferred)
  • High level of critical thinking
  • Excels when working under tight deadlines and demanding situations

*Compensation range for this position is $63,750 - $125,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. This range is provided as a general guideline and does not guarantee a specific salary. We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
