Aguila is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bilingual Psychologist (English/Spanish) to join our team. This position will play a critical role in supporting individuals navigating the immigration legal process by providing psychological evaluations, assessments, and expert guidance to strengthen legal cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of trauma-informed care, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to collaborate with legal professionals in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed psychological assessments and evaluations for individuals undergoing the immigration process to support legal cases, including asylum, VAWA, U-visas, and other immigration matters.
  • Prepare comprehensive psychological reports and provide expert insights for use in legal documentation, ensuring alignment with legal standards and case objectives.
  • Provide trauma-informed counseling and emotional support to clients facing the challenges of immigration and legal proceedings.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, legal teams, and case managers to provide psychological expertise and recommendations that support client cases.
  • Offer expert testimony when required to support client cases during immigration hearings or proceedings.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, adhering to ethical, professional, and legal standards.
  • Stay informed on psychological trends and best practices related to immigration law and mental health.
  • Train and educate legal staff on the psychological impact of immigration processes and effective ways to support clients.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Psychology, or a related field.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal) is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience, ideally with trauma survivors, immigrants, or individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience in conducting psychological assessments and preparing legal reports is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to handle sensitive cases empathetically.
  • Familiarity with the immigration legal process and the role of psychological evaluations in supporting legal cases is a strong plus.
